The Italian Students Organization will host a free screening of the movie “Cinema Paradiso” on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009, at 8:30pm in the Quad, with the rain location in Room 111, Nesbitt Hall.
Winner of the 1989 Cannes Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize and the 1989 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, “Cinema Paradiso” is a comedic yet touching Italian film that tells the story of a famous film director who returns home to Sicily for the first time in almost 30 years. He reminisces about his childhood at the Cinema Paradiso where Alfredo, the projectionist, first brought about his love of films.
This movie is free and open to the public. Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair or blanket and refreshments if they’d like. The film is in Italian with English subtitles.
